Thurs Jan 20th

I figured out what was wrong with my computer and posted this video of our air boat trip. I think this will give you an idea of what one of these things is like. Today's post is right after these videos.

We got up around 9 AM and had some fruit bowls for breakfast. Today was supposed to be another stay at home day to save ourselves from spending any money so I was just taking some random pictures around the condo. Here is one of them.
Wasting time...I got a lot of it to waste. LOL
I had just listed a pair of sunglasses I got at a garage sale for 2 bucks, when I got an email from a guy that was offering me 50 bucks if I ended it right now. So I did. I think they are real Oakley's but not certain. Oh well 48 buck profit helps support a couple of poor retired people, so we were happy with the offer.
Are they real Oakley's?

As you can see on the clock, it was around 10:30 AM. We hung out for a while trying to figure out what to do for the day when Bonnie came up with the idea to use one of our (South Florida Dines) coupons for lunch. We had a 30 dollar coupon (we paid 10 bucks for) to The Deck. It is a restaurant in Fort Lauderdale across the street from the beach. I am sure Debbie spent a lot of time down there! We jumped in the car and headed down there. I was worried about a parking place because it was 84 degrees and sunshine outside.
We found a parking spot only a block from the beach, Here is a picture, us walking up to the restaurant. It is in the upper left portion of the picture.

Heading to lunch on the ocean.
We got in and grabbed a table overlooking the ocean. It wasn't as busy as we had anticipated, so the service was quite fast. Here are a couple of pictures, one of the restaurant and one of the view.

Not fancy.

But a million dollar view!
I ordered the Mahi Mahi sandwich with coleslaw and Bonnie ordered the lobster burger. I ordered a coke and Bonnie ordered a pina coloda. What!!  I ordered to fast, well, I did have to drive. While waiting for our food to show up I saw this big boat cruising across the ocean and I saw this dive boat sitting there and I thought they were going to crash. I took this picture.

Watch out!

Must have been an optical illusion, they never collided, however the wake from the bigger boat did make the dive boat do a 360 in the water. After lunch we went across the street, kicked off our sandals, and went walking south down the beach with our feet in the water. We walked about a mile down and then headed back. we only had 2 hours on the parking meter. We got back to the car with 3 min left on the meter. Good timing, or maybe just luck. You do not want to get a parking ticket down here as the are quite spendy! I got one on of the first days we were down here last year and it was 50 bucks! We drove home all the way on A1A, as it is quite picturesque. It follows the ocean all the way from north Florida to Key West. We were all the way back to Deerfield Beach when I saw this car in front of me. This one is for David, to show him I look at cars! LOL. This is probably a 500,000 dollar car.
I wonder who is in this car..They had a driver.

Yup! Its a rolls!
Now I wouldn't pay that much, but some rich people will! We then came home and waited, and watched American Idol. That was it for Thursday.

  1. I might have been to that restaurant but not sure. I di spend quite a bit of time at Banana Joe's, it was a little place across the street form Ft. Lauderdale Beach, right on A1A. They kept a few pairs of binoculars behind the bar. I wonder if it's still there?
