Sunday Jan 16 (Deb's Birthday!)

Got up excited and ready to get to exploring and finding alligators. Done with our showers by 7:30 and ready to pack up the lunch and hit the road.
So we took of, set the GPS and headed for the everglades. According to our GPS it is 1 and a quarter hours to the entrance. We got down there and right on the corner is this big Indian Casino with a sign that says 15 dollars free play for new players club members! We couldn't resist so we pulled in, waited in line, got our coupon for 15 bucks. We walked around for a few minutes looking for a good machine then sat down and wasted our free 15 bucks in 15 minutes. Off we went, back to the car and down the road.
We got there and I have to tell you...It is very primitive. Lots of water, grass and trees. All mixed together.
Oh...and a lot of wildlife.

We found this place that had air boat rides. We really couldn't afford it, but...what the heck.  Here we were waiting for them to load the boat. They had some alligators in pens. this big guy is 14 ft long and weighs 1100 lbs.
14 ft and 1100 lbs...his name is Big Man

They were just getting back...our turn
I promised alligators, and I delivered!  Ok....I won't count that one. While we were waiting they had some Japanese people across the road shooting some pictures for some kind of an ad. I just laughed.
Superman? in the everglades?
They finally loaded the boats and it was pretty cool. These things will really fly. He said they can go over water as little as 1 inch.

The everglades...at least part of it

I also got some real alligators in their natural environment.
7 footer

another one about 6 ft

almost missed this guy. Bonnie spotted it.
Those are 3 different creatures, the guide says there are somewhere between 1.5 to 3 million alligators in the everglades. We we wandered around for a while and left to go back  home about 3:30. We were driving through Miami and decided to check out the beach.
Welcome to Miami!

Well that was it. I had some really cool videos but this thing would not let me post them. I have to figure it out....I have no idea......got to get to figuring....wtf......I'll catch you later.

  1. Great job Steve. Those are some cool pics. The guide said between 1.5 and 3 million gators? I wish my measurements could have that much leeway. Wow! Seeing the gators in the wild is just like seeing a dinosaur. I noticed that 'Big Guy' has some real chubby cheeks, or did he eat the trainer. Lol.
