Sat 1-1-11

Happy New Year!! We got up late,,,well I got up late, around 10am and made orange juice with our new juicer. That thing works great. After showering we jumped into the car and went to see if we could find any garage sales. We drove around for an hour and only found one sale. Bonnie picked up a bird book and while leafing through it she found some dried leafs in between the pages. She had decided she was going to get the book so she threw the leafs to the ground, I saw the guy dive to the ground to retrieve the leaves out of the corner of my eye. He said "that's where they went to" I spun around to see what he was talking about. He was looking at me and said "they are still good!". He then went into a story about how he hadn't smoked dope for 32 days then got high in the Bahamas and it had been another 25 days. I think he was getting high as soon as we left. He had a beer when we walked up and got another while we were looking through the sale stuff. I asked if it was his house, and he said no, it was his sister and her husbands. He told us he had to move out soon (I wonder why) and he was moving in with his girlfriend. As we left I couldn't help but laugh in the car and wonder why he was so open with us, how did he know we were not police? Anyways we decided to abandon our garage sale search and instead look for manatees or some other wildlife. We stopped at this hotel parking lot right on the intercoastal. We were familiar with this spot as we had been there before. We like this spot as it is right on the water and we can get down to the water.

My mermaid!
We left that spot and traveled another mile or so down the road when we found a little park we had never been to before. We parked the car and walked up to the intercoastal and started looking into the water for fish or manatees when a park ranger told us there had just been a manatee there. What? Darn it! We just missed it. We hung around for a bit waiting to see if it would come back, but it did not.

Disappointed, but not daunted, we continued south to a park on the ocean side of A1A and pulled in. We had been here before and liked this place. It is about 2 miles north of the Deerfield pier. It has a jetty that you can walk out on. We walked out there and had just started to take some pictures of each other when a nice lady offered to get some pics of us. In exchange we took some of them. The wind was blowing in at about 15-20 mph so the water was crashing into the rocks creating some neat splash for the pictures. I put a few videos in there also, so you can see how rough the seas are.

Aren't we cute?

We are all smiles!
After spending an hour there we got back into the car and headed down to our beach to see if anybody was down there. There were lots of people there and the place was hopping. We walked the beach and then walked up to the boardwalk, where they had some great tropical acts playing.

We sat and listened to the music until 5 when we headed home. We had planned on going to the new True Grit movie. We got home, freshened up, then ran to the theatre to catch the 6:30 show. I love westerns and we were both anxious to see this one. After the movie I was a little disappointed, we did like it but we felt the hype was more than the movie could live up to. So on a scale of 1 to 10 I would give it a 7.
Well tomorrow is supposed to be 80 again so we are planning on hanging out at the pool and doing laundry.
Sounds pretty exciting doesn't it? You never know..... Until tomorrow.....
