Wow! I woke up and felt great! OK OK...I know...who wouldn't wake up feeling great, when you wake up on a tropical Island! Terry and Joann were still sleeping so Bonnie and I jumped in the shower and got dressed. I went outside and took a couple of pictures of our accommodations...

Home Sweet Home (at least for one night)
Terry and Joann were awake when I went back in so we waited for themto get ready, we then checked out and went across the bay to a restaurant and grabbed breakfast. We then drove up the road to the old town harbour. This place was established in 1780.

How many miles?
We had planned on going to the Key West Beach, although I was the only one that put on swimming apparel. We headed over to the beach and found a spot to set up our chairs.

Like it or love it? Loving it!!

Just because it looked cool
. After a couple of hours down there, we decided to pack up and start for home. It was about 1 in the afternoon. I went to the bathhouse and changed out of my swimwear and we took off into the 85 degree heat. About 25 miles up the Keys, is the Island where the Key Deer are most visible, so we took off down one of the side roads to see if we could find one. We did.

After watching the deer for a little while, we resumed our homeward bound trip. A short while later we pulled over because of the view of this abandoned railroad bridge.
|
Yikes...Just watch the video
We took off and went a bit further down the road, until we came to the 7 mile bridge. All of the islands are connected by bridges, but most are only several hundred yards long. This bridge is 7 miles long. In the picture you can see it turns to the right.

While taking the picture I saw this little Island just off the coast and thought it looked neat so I took a picture of it too.
We took of again and headed another 20 miles or so and found this little park. Bonnie and I had seen it before, but never stopped. It was worth the stop.

The water was very warm here

pelicans
After that we drove some more and stopped again. Catching the theme here? We may have to get another hotel. LOL! There are so many beautiful sights, it is almost unreal.
It was getting to be 4 in the afternoon and we hadn't eaten since breakfast. Time to find someplace to eat. We were in the upper keys by then, and I knew a place we had seen before and wanted to try, so we headed for there.

chillin after dunch
After dunch (dinner and lunch) it was 5:30 and we still had a ways to go. Besides, I had to get home to watch the end of the superbowl. So we went the rest of the way without stopping and got home at 8, just in time to see the second half. Everyone was tired, so we called it an evening. Tomorrow's plan is to do the Jungle Queen. I am bushed, and going to sleep. See you tomorow!
You don`t say where this tropical island you are on is at?? We need to know the whole story. Man, I wish I was there, it just all looks so beautiful. I love it. Looks like you are having a blast. Keep s all posted on your events..LOv ya
