1 week till retirement

Welcome to our blog...this is an experiment in early freedom. I have always been aware of how society works,
or better yet how it expects us, as participants, to behave and exist within its parameters. Basically we are all
cogs in the wheel of establishment. You see in order for it to function as expected we must all do our small
part as we work as a collective. We are kind of like an ant colony, with most of us assuming the role of the worker ants. We spend the majority of our life doing whatever we do just to try to save a couple of penny's
to retire on. Then you hit the magic number (65 or so) and attempt to retire when BAM...health issues start
piling up. Well I am about to attempt the unthinkable and quit my white collar corporation job in my early 50's and see what else
this fantastic world has to offer. We have a condo in south Florida where we plan to base out of in the winter and a lake cabin in Iowa we will be at during the summer months. As for travel we have a 1986 VW wolfsburg camper van we will travel in. I choose this vehicle for several reasons, 1) our condo association would not allow
any motor homes or campers in the parking lot. 2) We needed something easy on fuel consumption . 3) We wanted
something easy to drive and well laid out for ease of use. 
   Any ways I only have 7 days left of work and then it is time for some serious preparation to leave. My last day of work is Oct 30th then our plan is to be off by November 7th. We plan on taking a week or two to get to Florida then we shall see what comes next. I am nervous but excited as I believe human nature would dictate. I am just learning how to blog so I extend my apologies if I have been long winded, or if I have not been descriptive enough. I will get this blogging thing down and continue to post as events occur.
